Partners for Behavioral Health and Wellness was founded on a shared vision of collaboration, expertise, and compassionate mental health care for individuals and families in Beachwood, Cleveland, and throughout Northeast Ohio.
Our journey began when Dr. Howard Bonem, after building a thriving practice, chose to retire alongside his wife, Deborah Bonem, LISW-S, a psychoanalyst and psychotherapist. Their retirement was brief, as Dr. Bonem soon envisioned a new kind of behavioral health practice in Beachwood, Ohio, rooted in collaboration and clinical excellence.
To bring this vision to life, Dr. Marise Alexander, a clinical psychologist, was invited to join. Together, they recognized that the highest quality mental health care comes from experienced professionals working collaboratively across disciplines. Soon, seven additional clinicians joined the practice, bringing expertise in psychiatry, psychology, counseling, and social work. Their diverse approaches to treatment strengthened the practice and attracted other highly skilled mental health providers.
The name Partners for Behavioral Health and Wellness was intentionally chosen to reflect this commitment to collaboration and comprehensive mental health services.
In 2018, Dr. Alexander assumed the role of President. Today, several of the original shareholders continue to guide the practice’s operations and long-term vision, alongside a growing team of clinicians who carry this legacy forward.
Our practice emphasizes individualized, patient-centered care for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. With expertise across therapy, counseling, psychiatry, psychology, and social work, our team supports clients with concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, and other behavioral health needs. This collaborative approach allows us to offer personalized attention, flexibility, and treatment plans tailored to each client’s unique needs.
