Dr. Epstein, originally from Washington, D.C., earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from George Washington University in 1968 and 1970. He then went on to work on his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology which he completed in 1976 at the University of Cincinnati. His training focused on working with both children and adults. Dr. Epstein started his professional career as a staff psychologist at the University Affiliated Cincinnati Center for Developmental Disorders where he worked with children presenting a range of developmental disabilities including mental retardation, neuromuscular disorders, learning and attention disorders, spina bifida, and deafness. Following his stay in Cincinnati, he went to Jerusalem, Israel where he was the senior Psychologist at the Jerusalem Center for Child and Family Development and the first child psychologist at the then newly formed Department of Child Psychiatry at Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center. He also served as a consultant to Micha services for preschool and kindergarten age children with severe hearing loss.

Dr. Epstein returned to Ohio in 1979 to take the position of Clinical Director of the Mahoning County Diagnostic and Evaluation Clinic in Youngstown. He came to Cleveland in 1985 as the Director of the Northern Ohio branch of the Institute for Motivational Development where he worked with underachieving and under-motivated children and adolescents and their parents. Since 1996, he has worked in private practice in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Dr. Epstein is a founding member of Partners in Behavioral Health and Wellness, Inc.

Dr. Epstein specializes in working with adolescents and adults who present behavior, mood, learning, attention, anxiety, motivational disorders, and substance abuse. He also specializes in working with couples who experience relationship disturbances. Dr. Epstein enjoys consulting with schools to develop educational plans and interventions for students with learning, attention, motivation and emotional/behavioral disorders. He also is available to speak to school faculty, PTO and organizations regarding motivation, under achievement, ADHD, and bullying.
